The Story of Kingstone Primary School

Kingstone Primary School is a community-based school located in Buikwe. It was started out of a simple need to give children in the area a chance to study in a safe, supportive, and affordable environment. The school opened its doors in January 2005, beginning with just a few pupils and teachers, and is slowly growing into a place many parents now trust with their children’s education.

The goal of the school has always been clear: to offer quality education while also building character and discipline in young learners.

Learning at Kingstone

At Kingstone, the teaching follows the Ugandan National Curriculum, but the school also encourages creativity and confidence through activities like music, art, debates, sports, and storytelling. Teachers pay attention to each child and work hard to ensure that even those who start out struggling are given the support they need.

The learning environment is calm, respectful, and designed to help pupils feel comfortable so they can focus and enjoy school.

A Safe and Caring Environment

Children at Kingstone are not only taught academics but also guided on how to behave well, relate with others, and take care of themselves. The school compound is clean and secure, and children are closely monitored during break time and after school.

Parents are regularly updated on their children’s progress, and there’s good communication between the school and home. Many parents appreciate that their children feel happy and safe at school.

Achievements and Progress

Over the past few months, Kingstone Primary School has made progress in both academics and co-curricular activities. Pupils from the school have performed well in almost all Exams and (We have not yet engaged in any serious competions).

Even though the school is still growing, it is become known for grooming disciplined, hardworking, and respectful learners who then will go on to succeed in secondary school and beyond.

Warm Appreciation

We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our friends and supporters from abroad especially the Microhive Trust through Inquire Trust, with special thanks to Jaimie for coordinating the support. This sponsorship has made a significant difference, particularly in helping cover a meaningful portion of staff salaries. For a young school like Kingstone Primary, this kind of support is not only timely but vital. It strengthens the foundation of our teaching team and allows us to focus on what matters most delivering quality education to our learners.

Kingstone Primary School – The wise act with knowledge

🗣️ A Word from Tr. Julie

Resident Administrator & Director, Kingstone Primary School

Before Kingstone Primary came into existence, I had been running Living Hope Primary School for several years. It was a school I started with passion and faith but like many small private schools, we faced constant struggles with funding. Eventually, I had no choice but to rent it out to someone else, hoping that would keep the dream alive. Unfortunately, when that person left, they had destroyed most of the structures. Almost everything we had built was torn down, and I was left with nothing but disappointment and a few broken walls.

For some time, I tried renting out the remaining parts of the property to individuals who showed interest, but even that did not work out. Most of them never paid, and the place continued to deteriorate.

It was during this time of discouragement that Pr. Moses Nyanzi stepped in. As one of the directors of Kingstone Secondary School, he had a heart for education and a strong belief that every child deserves a chance to study, regardless of their background. He brought a new idea: to start a fresh, community-driven primary school under the Kingstone name, not just to educate but also to attract well-wishers who could help sponsor children in need.

Though he didn’t have much, Pr. Moses gave all he could by the end of 2024 clearing what was left, putting up basic structures, and helping lay the foundation for something new. That act of faith is what gave life to Kingstone Primary School.

Today, our pupils may still be learning under simple shelters, but what they receive is full of love, care, and the determination to build something greater. From what once looked like the end, came a fresh beginning and I’m so grateful to be part of that journey.
